Visual Arts Mississauga’s Why do you create? Juried Exhibition gave artists an opportunity to consider how they create and what brings meaning to their art-making practice. It is also an opportunity for members of the regional visual arts community to showcase their work alongside their peers, and for art enthusiasts to discover the wealth of talent in the region.

Member Theme Show – Flourish

Members of Visual Arts Mississauga (VAM) at Riverwood are invited to participate in our Member Theme Shows. Each exhibit gives emerging and established artists, the opportunity to exhibit their work. VAM Artists share artwork related a representational, or an abstraction of feelings, memories and stories.

 

World Art Day – Community Exhibition

Calling all artists! Visual Arts Mississauga is inviting you to submit images of your 2-dimensional artwork for our World Art Day Community Exhibition! VAM would love to showcase the talented artwork of artists of all ages to celebrate World Art Day! We want to emphasis how important art is, promote different techniques and media, and to support artists of all ages.

 

Inge Kjeldgaard Tajik Solo Show

“Inge Kjeldgaard Tajik is holding an exhibition featuring works that shows the evolution of her art over time. The exhibit will consist of imaginary art and realistic still-life executed in graphite, watercolour and egg tempera paint.”

White Oaks Group Exhibition – Spring Splash

Spring Splash – White Oaks Art Group’s spring show will be held April 21 to 23. Twelve artists, working in a variety of media and styles will be featured.

Spring of Hope

Monday, May 1 – Sunday,  7, 2023

The Spring of Hope show returns for a second year with three artists showcasing their most recent paintings. This unique exhibit will feature abstract landscapes by Parissa Daie, rustic Canadian landscapes by Louise Musial, and “Motherhood” series of paintings based on Indian folk art by Meghal Khakhar, just in time for Mother’s Day.

The Mississauga Watercolour Society (MWS) Art Exhibition

Saturday, May 6 – Sunday, May 7, 2023

Members of the MWS meet weekly at the Visual Arts Mississauga facility to paint, socialize and share the creative process. Our group presents art exhibitions and we enjoy outdoor painting over the summer. Artists are welcome to join. Contact: peggywinterton@sympatico.ca

Annual Kids and Teen Exhibition

Teen Show: May 8 – 19, 2023

Kids Show: May 12 – 14, 2023

Opening Reception: Saturday, May 13 from 10 am – 2 pm

Join us and enjoy the creative works from the spring term from our students ages 6 – 18. The students covered a wide scope of themes, techniques, and approaches to art-making that celebrate self-expression.

Each week the practiced their foundational skills, built confidence, explored various art media and learned to trust their own abilities while expressing their creativity.

 

VCR 2022-2023 Final Exhibition

May 23 – June 11, 2023

Opening Reception: Friday, May 26 from 7 – 9 pm

Save the date: Join us at VAM from 7:00pm – 9:00pm on May 26 for the opening of the VCR Final Exhibition, an exhibition featuring the work of VAM’s Creative Residents. The evening will include artwork, live music and performances by local talents.

We hope to see you there!

VAM’s Creative Residency (VCR) is an opportunity for emerging artists in Mississauga to participate in an 8-month exhibitions program with a focus on mentorship and professional development. Residents have access to VAM’s art centre to develop their skills in art exhibition, education and engagement.
