Let’s celebrate community spaces human-made or in nature. Gathering invites artists from Mississauga and the GTHA to share their interpretations on the theme of gathering and community and what it means to them.

Entry fees can also be paid by phone with credit card or in person during VAM administrative hours.
Terms of Entry
• Artists (18 years +) may enter one piece for consideration.
• The work must be original and recent (2017-2019).
• * Submissions must be 2-dimensional (painting, drawing etc.)
• Maximum size is 36 x 48 inches. NOTE: 36 inches is the maximum height
• Submissions must be emailed to with the
Subject: Library. Please attach the Entry Form and one JPG (1MB) image of piece.
• Please attach a short artist statement (150 words or less) reflecting on how this work connects to the theme “Gathering”
• At intake of accepted work, each piece must be exhibition-ready and properly wired by the artist (wiring must be attached). Works with faulty or poor wiring will not be accepted.
• VAM at Riverwood and the Mississauga Central Library reserve the right to decline a submission deemed unsuitable for the exhibit: this includes work not dry; insecurely or improperly framed; work created with assistance, reproductions, or copies of another’s artwork (including instructor’s demos) and works inappropriate for our mixed-aged viewers.
• VAM at Riverwood and the Mississauga Central Library will not be responsible for works during drop off, pick up, during the exhibit, or those left after the pick-up date.
• Insurance coverage to and from and during the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist.
• Textiles or 2-dimensional work intended for wall display must be in a frame and wired to exhibit.
• Please no new media submissions, i.e. Video or electrically powered artwork, etc.
• Work will be juried for technical proficiency and theme relevant content deemed suitable by VAM.
June 27: Deadline for submission by 4 pm
June 28: Notification to chosen artists
July 6: Drop off of artwork at Central Library, Third Floor from 10-11 am
July 12: Opening Reception 5-7 pm (First and Second Awards will be awarded at 6 pm)
August 24: Pick up of artwork 11 am- 1pm
