2018 – 2019 Board of Directors


Swaroop Dogra was elected to the Board in 2017. He works as a Senior Program Manager with NetCracker (A wholly owned telecom solutions subsidiary of NEC, a $40Bn Japanese corporation). He is alumni of ICD – Directors for NFP (not for profit) program, Rotman’s Executive leadership course in Managing Strategic Change, Rotman’s MBA essentials course and many more.

Dogra has more than 30 years of multinational professional and volunteer experience in Executive leadership, PMO/Program/Project Management, Software development, Service delivery at large companies like Telus, Bell, Verizon, Bharti Airtel, Amdocs, Osram, UTI and 3 leading Banks in India. He also volunteers as Director with Peel Senior Link. Past volunteer positions include Director at Indus Community Services (2 years as Vice President), Director at PMI Lakeshore Chapter, member curriculum/program advisory committees at Humber and George Brown College etc.

Swaroop migrated to Canada from India and has been living in Mississauga, since 2001. He augments his interest in arts through courses at AGO, Living Arts centre and Ryerson University.


Michael Giguere was elected to the Board in April 2015. He is the principal of Array Strategies, a management consulting company that specializes in management systems development and organizational improvement.  Giguere has an established reputation in assisting organizations with crystallizing their vision, defining their mission and establishing suitable objectives and metrics to move them toward their goals.

Giguere has over 30 years’ experience in implementing, auditing and interpreting internationally recognized management standards associated with such organizational facets as risk, quality, health and safety and the environment.

Giguere served as the Director of Registration Services at KPMG Quality Registrar Inc. – a global network of professional firms providing audit, advisory and tax services.  He was with KPMG for over 8 years. Giguere is also a trainer in management systems and process auditing. In addition to the foregoing for profit related work Giguere served for 2 years on the board of the Canadian Red Cross, Toronto Chapter as Audit Chair.


Over the course of her 16-year career Rachael has held senior level roles in Human Resources.  Effective in creating positive and productive work environments, she has a proven reputation amongst organization leaders as a trusted advisor and strategic partner. Currently Rachael is a Director, Human Resources at a leading P&C Insurance Company.

Rachael holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree from Ryerson University. She is certified through the HR Certification Institute as a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) and through the Human Resources Professional Association as a Human Resources Leader (CHRL). Rachael has enjoyed volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.



Nancy Messham was elected to the Board in April 2015. She is an accomplished business professional with extensive marketing, business development and sponsorship experience. Working  with major Canadian Retailers and food companies, Messham’s entrepreneurial spirit and creativity were instrumental in the successful launches of numerous innovative in-store advertising vehicles and food information programs.  Messham is a relationship builder with a strong sense of community and unwavering commitment to quality and integrity.

A life-long learner, Messham continues her art education with classes from various institutions including Sheridan College, Neilson Park Creative Centre, Living Arts Centre, and VAM.

Nancy-Jane Price is pleased to have become a board member in April 2017. Her career as managing partner, and as president, of insurance brokerage firms in Bahamas, Australia and Canada specializing in industrial and institutional risk management has provided her the opportunity to negotiate contracts, manage employees, and orchestrate client recovery systems.</p?

Nancy-Jane believes the depth of her business experience will help to strengthen the board’s management capacity.

It’s an unusual privilege to offer her management skill and business experience to an institution dedicated to serving the community in the protection and promotion of her first love;  the visual arts.


With a passion for digital content that captivates and connects, Tanya brings nearly 20 years of professional writing and editing experience to the Board. As a Digital Content Editor at the Region of Peel, Tanya is responsible for strategizing, writing, and editing content for the Region’s digital channels.  A champion of plain language in government communications, she has also produced and lead web writing workshops for Regional staff, managers, and directors.

Tanya’s digital journey began at Novator Systems, where her content production skills helped create highly successful, high-traffic e-commerce and information websites for New Line Cinema, FTD.COM, Canada’s Walk of Fame, CBC Boutique, and Baskits.

In 2003 she founded Gal Friday Web Design, where her content editing services helped women entrepreneurs grow their small businesses online. Tanya holds a BFA in Fine Arts Studies from York University and an Editing Certificate from George Brown College. A resident of Mississauga since 1999, she takes pride and pleasure in Mississauga’s vibrant, diverse, and dynamic culture.



Linda Stregger was elected to the Board in April 2016. She has worked in the Canadian television industry for 25 years.  Graduating from York University with a BA in Math for Commerce Stregger was first employed at CTV where she learned the television production business.  In 1994 she completed her accounting designation as Valedictorian.

In 1995, Stregger became one of two principals in an independent production company, Up Front Entertainment Inc.  She combined her training as a CPA CMA, a keen eye for story and an imaginative production style to lead teams to deliver the highest quality of programs.   Stregger is a Canadian Screen Award nominee and is the winner of a Gemini.

Stregger is now part of PwC’s Specialty Tax Team in their Media & Communications division.  She is also a guest instructor at Humber College’s TV Arts & Media program in Toronto. Stregger thrives in environments that offer challenges, working with teams and leading them all to success.


Fei Sun was elected to the Board in April 2017. During Sun’s diverse and progressive career, she has been a journalist, a consultant and later a Human Resources professional at Accenture and Goldman Sachs. Sun holds a Master’s and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and is working towards a Masters Certificate in Adult Training and Development at the Schulich School of Business.

Sun is now an Organization Development Specialist at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, where she supports the individuals and organization to reach their highest potential.

Sun has lived and worked in China and England prior to moving to Canada. She is an advocate for inclusion and diversity, as well as effective cross-cultural communication.


Laura Thompson was elected to the Board in April 2015. She is the Owner and Founder of ArtBiz Alliance whose mission is to advance and enrich the art and business of Canadian artists through the power of personal branding, customized internet marketing strategy and art business community building.

Thompson has 12 years of advertising agency team work experience on out-of-the-box concepts, dynamic visuals and innovative strategies for print, television and online media. She is also an award-winning art director whose background includes acclaimed work on national campaigns for leading F500 brands.


PATRICK WONG – Vice Treasurer
Joining the Board in 2018, Patrick Wong has worked in the accounting field since 1975. He has held several senior positions in different companies, namely Avery Dennison, CCL Label and Unilever as a Senior Financial Analyst, Cost Accounting Manager and Financial Reporting Manager. Semi-retired, he is currently working for GestureTek Systems Inc. as Controller on a consulting basis.

Patrick has lived in Mississauga since 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Accounting and Economics) degree from the University of Toronto (Erindale Campus). In 1992 he achieved his Certified Management Accountant professional designation.

Patrick is a life-long learner. He enjoys reading to further his education and watching TV for his meditation practice. One item on his bucket list was to volunteer to serve in Mississauga. He believes VAM will be a wonderful starting place.
