Our
extremely popular summer art camp program was established in
1981 by Visual Arts Mississauga and has steadily increased in size
every year. We are presently accepting 750 students per summer.
Early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment.
We focus on having fun while
creating new friendships every summer. The children have an
opportunity to enjoy the summer sunshine during two recesses and a
lunch hour in a beautiful picturesque surroundings at Visual Arts
Mississauga. Each Friday afternoon our students enthusiastically
participate in a pizza Picnic at Erindale Park, then return to the
school for more fun and water games.
Our students and their parents tell
us they're thrilled with our program. We offer a wonderful and
unique variety of art and crafts that appeal to everyone.
Each week students are given a
weeklong project to concentrate on and complete by Friday. Several
other lessons and activities are completed daily.
The program details are not
available at time of registration.
The students are grouped according
to age. All age levels work on the same projects but with
increasing difficulty depending on the child's own capability.
Students work in a wide variety of
media: watercolour, clay pastels, drawing, papier maché, 3-D
sculpture, acrylics, and more.
Our teachers are highly qualified
in both the arts and teaching techniques. Co-operative learning is
encouraged and accepted by all the students. Fine motor skills and
hand-eye coordination are developed with each project. We firmly
maintain a teacher-student ratio of 1:15 (one teacher per 15
students). The class size is strictly limited because we want to
guarantee that each student receives the individual attention they
require for personal growth. Our teachers work with each child at
their own unique and personal levels.
Health Information It is essential that health information
be received at the time of registration. The office must be
informed of any special medical/behavioral concerns at time of
registration.
Illness - If your child becomes ill the
week before attending, and the office receives a Doctor's
certificate on the Wednesday prior to the child's week, then a
full refund will be issued minus the usual $25.00 administration
fee. Should you call the office after the Wednesday, a refund or
credit will not be given. If your child becomes ill during the
week of the program, a refund or credit for another week will not
be granted.
Disciplinary problems -
Your child will receive one warning, and you will be informed of
this action. Should a second instance occur, you will be asked to
remove your child from the program due to behavior deemed
inappropriate by die director. Refunds or credits will not be
issued if this occurs.
Refund Policy - VAM is a
non-profit organization and is not subject to City of
Mississauga refund policies. NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS are given

requested by the student, including medical reasons (note: a
Doctor's note must accompany the request for refund).

presented at time of registration. Proof of age may be required
for some children. Children under 6 years old will not be accepted
into the programs.
Classes run in three week cycles, with each week offering a new
and independent program. Children may register for one week at a
time, to a maximum of three weeks.
If you wish to register your child for different weeks during the
summer, check with the office at the time of registration
regarding the programming cycle.
Children are divided into (six) classes, by age as much as
possible. If children wish to be placed in the same class, this
must be arranged at the time of registration.
All classes are held inside, however students have two supervised
recesses and an hour for lunch, which are held outside, weather
permitting. Children bring their own snacks and lunches, except
for Friday, when a pizza picnic is provided.
Peanut Allergy Alert -
Please DO NOT BRING FOOD CONTAINING PEANUTS to our facility. Nut
allergies can be very serious and deadly. We want the safest place
for your child to be.
